Royal Navy Challenge

On Tuesday 18th October, Royal Navy staff visited the Lower Academy as part of our careers programme.

Working in teams, our Year 7 students were set a series of practical tasks, designed to enhance communication, team building & leadership skills.

One of the main challenges was to design and build a cart to transport equipment. Once engineered, the teams went head-to-head in a race for the fastest cart.

Well done to all of our students for displaying great enthusiasm and demonstrating superb teamwork throughout the day.

“It was an amazing experience even though my team finished last. It was hilarious how our cart fell apart at the start of the race. I had the best time building my groups cart. We all came up with so many ideas.” - Harrison.S

“I think this activity was fun because it improves communication skills and lets you express creativity. We got to work as a group and talk about all the different ways we could build our cart. It was fun testing it out and working together.” - Kamile.P

“I loved building our cart and working in a team, everyone had so many ideas, we even adapted our cart when the wheel fell off so that we could complete the race.” - Taylor.P

“This experience was really fun and has helped me learn skills that can be used in everyday life.” - Alance.W
