Lower Academy Achieves Beacon Peaceful School Award
We are delighted to announce that the Lower Academy has achieved the prestigious Beacon Peaceful School Award for its pioneering work in creating a peaceful school community.
The Peaceful Schools Strategy Group were impressed by the range and depth of the school's efforts and how the student values are an embedded part of part of everyday life.
Peaceful Schools Founder and Coordinator, Anna Lubelska recently visited the school and spoke with students throughout her tour of the school. Anna commented on how she loved that initiatives were student led and praised the drive of our UNICEF Ambassadors, Eco-Committee and Student Executive Team. She also commented on how unique the school is and, how it uses holistic approaches to develop students. Anna was also full of praise for the work that the Eco Committee have done to enhance the site, which includes the recently installed sensory garden, which allows students to have some down time and a place to relax.
“That was the best pupil-led tour of a school I've ever had. The pupils were able to explain all aspects of the school as well as being courteous and cheerful. Well done to everyone at Basildon Lower Academy.” Anna Lubelska, Peaceful Schools Founder and Coordinator
