We wish to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Art & Photography to join our talented Creative Arts Faculty. At the Basildon Academies Trust (BAT), we have a fully inclusive ethos and are therefore seeking an Art Teacher who embodies our Trauma Perceptive Practice principles.

Our academy operates across two sites. The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our Key Stage 3 students, whilst The Upper Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5.

The successful Art Teacher will initially be based at the Upper Academy, offering KS4 & 5 Art & Photography courses to both our mainstream students, and those in our own in-house Enhanced Provision which provides SEMH support for young people.

The post is open to teachers of all levels of experience.

The Lower Academy benefits from two dedicated DT workshops, Art studios, a fully functioning Kiln as well as a laser cutter using TechSoft 2D Design. The Upper Academy students are able to access a photography studio with multiple backdrops and professional lighting, a darkroom, dedicated Photography studio with DSLR cameras and industry standard editing software, dedicated industry standard KS5 studio with individual work stations and display boards for each learner, large scale printing, 3D printer/ laser and spray booths for spray paint, textiles facilities including sewing machines and Digital Graphics tablets. Both the Upper and Lower Academy Creative Arts Teams are supported by a team of technicians.

We pride ourselves on being a truly inclusive academy and this is actively underpinned by our motto ‘Aspire, Believe, Achieve’.

We are looking for colleagues who share the drive and passion necessary to ensure every student achieves their potential.

The Academies provide staff with the most appropriate and effective personalised support to ensure that their professional development needs are fully met and that there is a high level of challenge in the opportunities they are offered. All staff take ownership of their own learning journey and are given opportunities to reflect on their own practice, as well as supporting others through being members of Teacher Learning Communities. There is an open-door culture that encourages teachers to 'drop in' on colleagues, therefore promoting good practice within the schools. We are committed to SSAT Embedding Formative Assessment CPD programme for the next two years, as well as encouraging staff to further their expertise and leadership through both internal and external programmes, including the full suite of NPQ courses. We have a very strong record of developing staff from ITT to Headship.  We have an excellent track record of providing promotion and responsibility opportunities to staff that aspire to leadership.

Staff are well supported and are proud to work here. Ofsted 2023

If you can engage, motivate and challenge students to make exceptional progress, then please download and complete our application form and return it to our Recruitment Coordinator, Olivia Faustino - recruitment@basildonacademies.org.uk
