Year 8 Students Explore Paris: From Historic Landmarks to Disneyland Fun
Year 8 students recently embarked on an exciting residential visit to Paris, where they immersed themselves in the rich culture and history of the French capital..
The trip was filled with memorable experiences and educational highlights. Students had the opportunity to visit the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica and enjoyed sightseeing from the Montparnasse Observatory, gaining a unique perspective of Paris's iconic skyline. The adventure was capped off with a fun-filled day at Disneyland, providing a perfect blend of learning and leisure.
“The view from Montparnasse Tower was breathtaking and seeing the Eiffel Tower in person was unreal.” - Nicole.A
“I am extremely proud of how the students on the Paris trip conducted themselves and engaged with the French language and culture. From visiting historically important sites such as Napoleon's Tomb at Les Invalides, to having an amazing day at Disneyland Paris, the students' behaviour was impeccable. It was delightful to see them enjoy the sights, and it was a pleasure to take them all on the trip!” D. Middleton, KS3 Languages Leader
“I can wholeheartedly state that the Paris trip this year is by far one of the best I have been privileged to be a part of during my teaching experience. The students ('Team Paris' as they became known) listened, appreciated, and learned so much; it was a true pleasure to witness them enjoy it all. They were respectful to the public and in awe of the sights in Paris, making comments like 'this is breathtaking' regarding the views from the Montparnasse Observatory. Their excitement in Disneyland was palpable from the moment we got to the entrance, and the joy on their faces was so rewarding to behold.”
“In the hotel, they made us proud, never deviating from our instructions and advice regarding behaviour and safety. Many were willing to sample some of the unusual cultural food options available to them. Many students grew in confidence in their willingness and ability to speak French and wanted to perfect their pronunciation too. “I want to say a massive thank you to the students involved and their parents for their support in making this trip such a big success!” K.Mallinder, KS3 Head of Faculty: EBacc
